A  Brussels restaurant that offers busy shoppers a little bit of me-time

Dish is located in the busy commercial district of Waterloo, in Brussels. There is high footfall in the area between local office workers and daily shoppers. Dish serves quality, tasty food in a quick, convenient way.

B&S began working with Dish with a brand strategy; before the building was built and before the cuisine type was chosen. Working with the client from this early stage gave the business clarity and focus and informed each decision throughout the build. The restaurant name, interior style and tone of voice were all developed during the strategy stage.

We were asked to create a space that felt convenient and speedy while also giving the customer a bit of time-out for breakfast, lunch or an afternoon aperitif.

From the outset we knew the Dish brand needed the flexibility to grow across multiple locations. Design elements were thoughtfully created to fit into a variety of restaurant spaces. And the brand logo and core brand elements were designed to be recognisable wherever the next Dish was located.

A part of Dish’s ethos that we loved was the straight-forward simplicity of the offering and the thoughtful execution of the space. To compliment this the branding uses simple, straightforward copy for the brand tagline and core design elements.

The Dish logo mark is confident and robust. It was designed to be reminiscent of a seal of approval that you would find on a quality product. The Dish mark lets the customer know this is a place where quality matters.

We wove the idea of day dreaming into the branding and used illustration to create little moments of calm, whether dreaming of palm trees or going for a skate.

The customer is encouraged to escape from their day for however long they are in the restaurant.
